Job Title: GPS Monitoring Officer
Location: Ikeja Lagos.
Salary; ₦200,000 – ₦250,000
Job Summary:
GPS Monitoring Officer is responsible for tracking, analyzing, and reporting GPS data to monitor vehicle or asset locations, movements, and compliance with Company loan policies. This role involves real-time surveillance, troubleshooting GPS device issues, and ensuring accurate data logging for fleet management, security, or logistics operations. The GPS Monitoring Officer must also work closely alongside the Collections department to prepare reports of vehicle movements to analyze and understand usage of vehicles, as well as the Repossessions department to support tracking of collateral for defaulted loans.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor real-time GPS tracking systems for vehicles, equipment, or personnel.
- Analyse movement patterns, route deviations, and idle times to ensure compliance with the company’s loan policies.
- Generate and review reports on fleet activity, speed violations, geofence breaches, and unauthorized usage.
- Troubleshoot and resolve GPS device malfunctions (e.g., signal loss, battery issues, incorrect data transmission).
- Coordinate with field teams to verify GPS data accuracy and perform system diagnostics.
- Maintain and update geofences, routes, and restricted zones in the tracking software.
- Alert management or security personnel in case of emergencies, theft, or policy violations.
- Ensure data integrity by cross-checking GPS logs with manual records or other tracking systems.
- Handle back-end configurations and support with management of IOT SIM cards.
- Assist in installing, configuring, and maintaining GPS tracking devices as needed.
- Provide training to staff on GPS monitoring tools and best practices.
Requirements:
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail for detecting anomalies in tracking data.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 monitoring center (if applicable).
- Good communication skills for reporting incidents and coordinating with teams.
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with shift work (including nights/weekends for 24/7 operations).
- May require occasional fieldwork for GPS device installations or troubleshooting.
- Education: OND, HND, B.Sc. or equivalent (required)
- Certification in GIS, Fleet Management, or IT-related fields (preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in GPS tracking, fleet monitoring, dispatch, or a related role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in GPS tracking software (Geotab, Samsara, Fleet Complete, Verizon Connect, etc.).
- Basic understanding of telematics and wireless IOT communication systems.
- Familiarity with mapping tools (Google Earth, GIS platforms) and Excel for data analysis.
